Activities
There is so much to do in the area it’s hard to know where to begin. Without even leaving Tesoro Verde you can have fun exploring the Panamaze or following our unique Tesoro Verde treasure trail. It’s a energetic climb to the top of our hill but worth it for a view over the entire local area. On the way back down take the path into the jungle for a refreshing dip in our little natural pool or perhaps you would prefer to unwind with a relaxing massage in the bamboo forest as you anticipate the taste of home made pizza fresh from our wood fired oven. The birding at Tesoro Verde is amazing and our property bird count currently stands at over 100 species.
We offer two guided hikes which both start at Tesoro Verde. A fun two-three hour Jungle hike and the full day Ridgeline hike for those looking for a challenge. Further afield we offer an historical tour of nearby Portobelo where you will learn all about this quaint old trading town and visit it’s ruined forts and famous church.
We can advise on a wide range of activities in the Costa Arriba area. There are hikes to deserted beaches, boat trips to sandy islands and secret snorkel spots. Perhaps you’d like to rent kayaks and paddle yourself through the mangrove “tunnel of love”?
Still not tempted? There is a scuba diving centre in the area, horse riding can be arranged for those with experience, there is even a top class forest canopy zip line less than an hour’s drive away. You’ll be spoiled for choice!

Wood Fired Pizza
Every full moon we welcome a small group of just 12 diners and give them the opportunity to bake their own pizza in the belly of the “smoking pig” We cook pizzas one by one and serve family style so every slice is piping hot. There’s a complimentary beer for everyone to wash down your meal and we keep cooking until you are full or we run out of dough!!
Massage treatment
Are you ready enjoy the tranquility of Tesoro Verde in the most relaxing way? Let our masseuse’s soothing touch ease the stresses and strains with an herbal oil massage. A 50 min full body massage will be the main part of your morning or afternoon visit. With time before to soak up the calming atmosphere of our jungle hideaway and tea on the sun terrace after.
Panamaze
You are now looking at the first hedge maze in Panama. It’s laid out as a map of the country and slopes downhill from the “Costa Rican” border to “Colombia”. Maybe not the largest of mazes, is still provides a challenge and because it is situated on a hillside it offers a healthy workout too. It’s a lot of fun for families and at our Blue moon party was the scene for a unique cocktail hunt!
Treasure Hunt
What better way to spent a day on the Caribbean coast than searching for gold. Tesoro Verde’s unique treasure hunt is based on the nature and history of the area and involves maps and clues, puzzles and stories. You will have tasks to complete, like solving the first hedge maze in Panama, the Panamaze. It’s a fun and educational activity! Did someone say “buried treasure”…?
The Naked Pool
Deep in the jungle (actually not far at all) you will find a little natural pool that’s a perfect place to cool down on a hot day. It’s there for you whenever you like and as the name suggests skinny dipping, although not obligatory, will not upset the monkeys! Keep your eyes open as you climb up to the pool it’s a great place to spot the resident green and black dart frogs.
